This exhibition seeks to “move the crowd”, by establishing a photographic and artistic parallel between DJs and traditional and modern-day ministers/spiritual leaders to explore a deeper connection; further examining the distinct role of the deejay and emphasizing their historical significance. DJs are the captains, taking its passengers on an adventure; ministering through music, preaching from their respective “pulpits”, and empowering and inspiring the loyal congregations that support them, hence its title “Ministers Of Sound”. -Honoring the legacy of Rev. Hardy S. Bennings, Jr.
Some of the DJs featured in this exhibition include: DJ Kemit, DJ Ramon Rawsoul, DJ Salah Ananse, DJ Karl Injex, DJ Sky, DJ Tabone, DJ Mike Zarin, DJ Jamal Ahmad, DJ Osmose, DJ Apple Jac, DJ Ghost, DJ Cha Cha Jones, and many other DJs from various genres of Afro Beat to Electronic music. This exhibition is created by Kemi Bennings, founder of Evolve! Artists Live, Inc. Photography done by Annette Brown.
