Renowned Nigerian activist and musician Fela Kuti is the feature of a new documentary, “Finding Fela!”, and is the inspiration behind a new line of limited-release cut-and-sew garments crafted by local Atlanta print company, Fallen Arrows.
On Aug. 1, Fallen Arrows, the only officially licensed clothing producer for Fela, is hosting a fashion show featuring the new line of cloths. Fallen Arrows is unveiling nine feature cut-and-sew items along with numerous printed garments inspired by Fela, his music and his legacy. The event is in collaboration with Spreadlove, Felabration and Knitting Factory Entertainment.
The event will feature music from the “Finding Fela!” soundtrack and more from DJ Rasadon of Arrested Development. Light snack and cocktails will also be provided. It is taking place at Fallen Arrows new location Phase A on 482 Edgewood Ave from 6 p.m. till 10 p.m.
The documentary “Finding Fela!” will be released at Midtown Art Cinema, in Atlanta, on Friday Aug. 15.
